It is the first cold morning of the season and (of course) my old, unreliable car has quit on me. I am not properly dressed for the weather as I pump and crank away barefoot in my tired, worn, trashed vintage Adidas canvas sneakers. My feet are freezing as I try to get the engine to turn over.
